Today marks exactly 4 years since the worst day of our lives, the day our family home was destroyed by fire. In one devastating moment, our entire world fell apart. We didn’t just lose belongings; we lost the comfort, security, and memories we’d lovingly built as a family. At that moment, we couldn’t imagine how we’d ever move forward.
In the weeks that followed, our lives were thrown into turmoil as we bounced between hotels, desperately trying to maintain some sense of normality for the kids. Just one week before the fire, we had already faced an unimaginable loss…Nick’s incredible stepdad, Finly, had passed away. Finly was a massive part of Nick turning his life around, guiding him through sobriety, and his passing left our family deeply wounded.
As if the pain wasn’t already unbearable enough, we faced relentless attacks from online trolls who spread hurtful lies, even reaching as far as BBC News. It felt like the world had turned against us, and there were moments when giving up felt like the only option.
Yet, despite every hardship, every setback, and every heartbreak, we never gave up. Together, we stood stronger than ever, determined to rebuild our lives piece by piece. Slowly, day by day, we did exactly that.
Looking back over these past 4 years, it’s almost surreal to see how far we’ve come. We rebuilt more than just a house; we created a loving home filled with laughter, joy, and strength beyond measure. The family life we now have is incredible, something we cherish every single day.
Today, we’re not only reflecting on the pain of the past but celebrating our resilience, our strength, and the unbreakable bond we share as a family. To every single person who supported us, who showed us love and kindness during those darkest days, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Life will test you in ways you never expect, but please, never give up. There truly is light after darkness, and our family is living proof of that. ❤️
